Beagle Health Issues   by Bob Canino

We Love Our Pet Dogs

Since their evolution, humans have been intelligent enough to utilize the available resources to their maximum advantage. And this phenomenon also applies in cases of animals who have been used by human beings to fulfill their various needs. Cows and Buffaloes for example are used mainly for milk and meat generation purposes, while horses, ponies, camels and elephants have been more useful in transportation purposes for mankind. Rabbits and cats are more used for their beautiful features, and dogs are usually most preferred for their faithfulness and unwavering allegiance to their owners.

Among all the domesticated animals, dogs are definitely the most loved and adored by people around the world. Their high intelligence level and truly receptive responses endear them to humans than any other animal on the earth. Though there are various breeds of dogs that people love to keep as pets in their houses, the one breed that we are going to discuss here is a Beagle. A very loving breed of dogs, they can be the ideal choice for a home by just addressing a few beagle health issues.

Beagle Suffer from Very Particular Diseases

Petite, playful and energetic, Beagles make great friends with both adults and kids alike. They love to have fun with the kids, playing around the house with them and having a blast. Though very cute and loving, they can be quite stubborn at times, not willing to be pushed into doing something that they don’t want. Beagles also eat a lot, and when hungry they can really get hold of anything in their reach and gobble it up. Giving them leftovers and other home foods should be completely avoided as it can make them obese and also develop dysplasia in some cases.

Beagles are also known to suffer from a disease where the eyelashes start growing inwards towards the eyeball. This is a very painful condition called Distichiasis, which is usually caused by abnormal growth of eyelashes. Buying your beagle from a reputed source is extremely important as some of them could also have a heart problem, or even a poly-arthritis that can affect them at a very early age. Regular visits to a vet are indeed crucial to keep your beagle in a fit and healthy shape.

Beagles also have a history of suffering from strokes of Epilepsy, which can be severe as well as mild varying from one dog to the other. Another worrisome beagle health issue is a disease called Lymphoma, which is actually a cancerous growth requiring frequent visits to the vet. One of the the most commonly found disease in beagles is the Cherry Eye condition. But this disease too can be treated by applying an eye ointment on the affected area, or even operating to remove the affected gland causing the condition.

Key to Beagles Health

Beagles do have a history of diseases, but this does not mean that you should not bring a beagle at home. You can really enjoy having a beagle at home by simply keeping a close eye on some of the key issues related to their health.
